Jordan Henderson will not be in the squad for Liverpool’s first pre-season game against Karlsruher SC amid the ongoing interest from Saudi Arabia according to several reports.

The Liverpool captain did travel with the squad for the pre-season camp unlike Fabinho but now it would appear that a deal to leave is now closer than ever.

Al-Ettifaq stalled a deal when it seemed that it would be a quick process due to the fact they could not afford the transfer fee even though they have allegedly offered Henderson £700,000 a week.

However now both Liverpool and the Saudi side are confident a deal can be done as the clubs look set to compromise to agree on the valuation of the England international.

The 33-year-old was told by Jurgen Klopp that his minutes would diminish in this upcoming season due to the new arrivals of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.

So that is one of the main reasons why Henderson has looked for a move away from the club as well as the staggering wage he has been offered to go and play for his former team mate Steven Gerrard.

Henderson would have still got game time for Liverpool though so now they will have to go into the transfer market as they look to try and replace the outgoing midfielders quickly.

They have been recently rumoured to be interested in Crystal Palace’s Chiek Doucoure and Aston Villa’s Boubacar Kamara.
