Kobbie Mainoo is not set to go on loan this season from Manchester United, and the talented midfielder will instead become a fixture in the first-team squad.

Mainoo has impressed so far in the two pre-season games against Leeds and Lyon, and is a player Erik ten Hag rates highly. United are set to keep Mainoo at the club this season to fight for a place, even with the proposed signing of Sofyan Amrabat.

The United midfielder is being primed to become the eventual replacement for Casemiro.

Mainoo Set To Join First-Team Squad:

As reported by Steven Railston of MEN, Kobbie Mainoo will not be sent on loan this season. He will become part of the first-team squad.

Erik ten Hag embraced Mainoo after United won the Carabao Cup earlier on this year, and looked to be assuring him he would be a big part of this in the future. Mainoo is clearly one of the most promising prospects in United’s academy, and he looks ready to make that next step.

At United the mantra has always been if you’re good enough you’re old enough, and Erik ten Hag has always been big on youth. Ajax have a massive reputation for developing players, and the Dutchman will know how important it is to the ethos of a club.

Mainoo could face competition from both Casemiro and Sofyan Amrabat next season, but there aren’t many better players he could learn off. The eventual plan seems to be for Mainoo to be United’s starting midfielder in the next couple of years.

Alejandro Garnacho had his breakthrough last season, is Kobbie Mainoo set for his this year?
