As speculation continues that the current season could be Mohamed Salah’s last at Liverpool, West Ham United forward Jarrod Bowen has emerged as a player the Anfield hierarchy ‘admire’.
Reds fans nervously watched on as the final few hours of the Saudi transfer window ticked down but as the deadline passed, they were safe in the knowledge that they had kept hold of their talisman, Salah until January at least.
Liverpool had reportedly rebuffed a verbal £150million offer from Al-Ittihad earlier in the window and were bracing themselves for a late move for the 31-year-old that never materialised.
The feeling is clear however that Al-Ittihad and possibly other clubs in Saudi will return for Salah.
Whilst Jürgen Klopp will no doubt be delighted to keep hold of the Egyptian, there must now be contingency planning to prepare for his eventual departure.
According to The Athletic, Bowen is a player Liverpool ‘admire’ and have been watching for a number of seasons.
The England international offers similar attributes to Salah with his pace and ability to drift in from the right hand side on his left foot to both create and score goals.
Jarrod Bowen To Liverpool – The Transfer Room Verdict
It is an impossible task to replace Salah at Liverpool and there are no guarantees that they will look for a like for like for the Egyptian.
If they do search for someone with similar attributes however, it is quite possible that Bowen will be high up on their list of priorities even though it is likely to be costly to prize away one of West Ham’s most valuable assets.
