Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson’s move to Al-Ettifaq could be back on according to a report after the Saudi Arabian club stalled negotiations after they could not agree a fee.
Henderson has already agreed to move to the club that are managed by his former teammate and Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard with the club allegedly offering him a mammoth wage of £700,000 a week.
Al-Ettifaq originally thought they could sign the 33-year-old on a deal for free however due to the fact Henderson still has two years left on his current contract Liverpool weren’t willing to let him go without a fee.
The price that they have demanded is £20 million which Al-Ettifaq can’t afford but now there is confidence between the two clubs that a fee will be agreed on sooner rather than later.
If a solution can be found soon then Henderson could be saying his goodbyes as early as this upcoming week as it would be possible for him to have his medical in Croatia.
Liverpool have signed two midfielders so far in this transfer window as they brought in Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai from Brighton and RB Leipzig respectively.
Due to this Henderson was told that his minutes would be reduced this season in a meeting with manager Jurgen Klopp and that if he could find somewhere else to go then he should.
He has done that with the next contract he is offered by any club set to be the last long-term one in his career hence why a three-year contract from Saudi Arabia is seen as too lucrative to turn down.
