Liverpool have been linked with a plethora of defenders this summer with club searching the market for a left-sided centre-back.
That is due to Jurgen Klopp using a system which turns into a three at the back with Trent Alexander-Arnold as the inverted full-back on the other side.
Andy Robertson was used as the third centre-back in the run-in last season and he has been used there in pre-season as well.
Liverpool though want someone who isn’t used to attacking though due to the danger of leaving too much space at the back.
Another defender they reportedly want is Torino’s Perr Schuurs who has just had his debut season in Serie A after leaving Ajax.
Liverpool will have to battle it out with Crystal Palace for the 23-year-old but Torino will only sell him for a reasonable price.
They value him at 40 million euros which has stopped both Premier League clubs negotiaiotns as they want him for less than that.
Schuurs has carried on with pre-season with great professionalism as he scored the opening goal in Torino’s first friendly.
Whether a cheaper fee can be negotiated remains to be seen but if not it seems likely that Schuurs does not leave Torino.
Liverpool have been continuously linked with Chelsea defender Levi Colwill but that transfer is a difficult one to even start never mind complete.
At the moment Romeo Lavia appears to be the next signing in the door for Liverpool then possibly the focus will be on defenders.
