Liverpool are open to selling Spain international Thiago Alcantara this summer if the right bid comes in, according to Anfield Watch.

Alcantara has just one year left on his remaining contract with the Reds and it is believed that the club won’t be offering the 32-year-old a new deal due to his concerning injury record.

He has been hampered by injuries since moving to Anfield from Bayern Munich in 2020. He has racked up 97 appearances and made nine goal contributions across all competitions.

Despite his injury record, Alcantara has helped Jurgen Klopp’s outfit clinch the Carabao Cup, Emirates FA Cup, and Community Shield. Last season, he featured in 28 games and recorded one assist across all competitions as the Reds finished 5th in the Premier League table.

He is a subject of interest from several clubs including his former club Barcelona and clubs from Saudi Arabia. Alcantara is expected to miss the start of the season despite returning to training on Saturday.

He has been on the sidelines for several weeks after undergoing surgery on a hip injury – missing the rest of the 2022-23 season.

Liverpool are revamping their midfield and have already brought in two new midfielders this summer after the arrivals of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.

The Reds are keen to add at least two more midfielders and a centre-back following the exit of James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Naby Keita, while captain Jordan Henderson and Fabinho have both recently moved to the Saudi Pro League.

Romeo Lavia and Andre have both been linked with a move to Anfield. Liverpool have seen two bids rejected by Southampton who want £50m for the 19-year-old.

The Merseysiders have approached Fluminense for the signing of Andre and a deal worth €30m (£26m) could get the transfer done but the Brazilian side are unwilling to sell him until January.

It is also believed that Fluminense will make their final decision about the 22-year-old’s potential transfer after their Copa Libertadores round of 16 return leg against Argentinos Juniors on 8 August.

If Fluminense get eliminated, they might be open to selling Andre to Jurgen Klopp’s side.
