Liverpool continue to be linked with Chelsea defender Levi Colwill as they search for a central defender this summer.
The 20-year-old starred for England’s under-21s in their run to European Championship glory, helping Lee Carsley’s team go through the tournament without conceding a goal.
Colwill spent last season on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion and it has been reported that the Seagulls had a £40million offer for the player turned down earlier in the transfer window.
Reports of late however have suggested that Liverpool are keen to enter the race for Colwill who is recognised as a player with huge potential.
It has been well-publicised that the Anfield hierarchy are looking for a left-footed central defender and the Chelsea youngster could fit the bill.
According to Neil Jones, the Reds would have no issue in ‘paying big’ for Colwill as they seek further reinforcements as part of Jurgen Klopp’s rebuild.
The Transfer Room Verdict on Liverpool’s Pursuit of Levi Colwill
Whilst this looks like a difficult deal to get done, rumours persist that Liverpool are still trying to sign Colwill.
He would be the perfect fit in a Reds defence that is badly in need of a refresh and currently without a left-footed option in the centre of defence.
It will be interesting to see how this transpires over the coming weeks with Chelsea adamant the young superstar is not for sale.
