Liverpool have been linked to Fiorentina midfielder and Manchester United target Sofyan Amrabat this week, but that interest has now been downplayed. Jurgen Klopp’s will sign a defensive midfielder in the coming weeks, but Amrabat is not likely at this time.
With Fabinho leaving the club and Jordan Henderson linked with a move away, Liverpool must act in the market to replace both players. Amrabat had been reported to be on a list of potential replacements, but the club are prioritizing other targets as of now.
Manchester United have heavy interest in Amrabat and could move for him if they sell some midfielders.
Liverpool Downplay Amrabat Interest:
As reported by Paul Joyce, Liverpool have down played interest in Sofyan Amrabat, who is a prime target for Manchester United as of now. United will move for the Moroccan if they sell both Fred and Donny Van De Beek.
Romeo Lavia is a huge candidate to be signed for Liverpool, but he could be followed by another player. With two senior midfielders leaving it’s unlikely Liverpool will only sign one player to fill that hole.
Liverpool’s interest in Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips has also been downplayed. More likely targets as of now are Boubacar Kamara from Aston Villa and Cheick Doucoure from Crystal Palace along with Romeo Lavia.
Manchester United are heavily interested in Amrabat, who would cost them around £30million. Romeo Lavia has also been looked at by United in the past they are very unlikely to launch any sort of move this summer.
Amrabat is open to a Premier League move, and United always had an upper hand due to his relationship with Erik ten Hag. The United manager had Amrabat at Utrecht in the 2016-17 season.
Liverpool unlikely to move, and United in pole position.
