Liverpool are considering Bayern Munich forward Leroy Sane as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah in the summer transfer window, according to Fichajes.

The Spanish online portal claims that Jurgen Klopp views Sane as the ideal candidate to fill Salah’s shoes, especially with the latter drawing interest from Saudi Pro League clubs.

The Reds are keen on bolstering their squad by signing the Germany winger, given his exceptional skill and experience at both the club and international levels.

Salah currently has only 18 months left on his contract, and rumours persist about a potential move to Saudi Arabia.

During the latter part of the last summer transfer window, there was a reportedly verbal offer exceeding £100 million with substantial add-ons from Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad for the 31-year-old, which Liverpool staunchly rejected.

Despite Liverpool’s reluctance to part ways with Salah, a significant offer in the summer could prompt them to reconsider their stance, especially given the player’s age, who will turn 32 before the start of the next season.

Fichajes reports that Liverpool face strong competition for Sane’s signature in the summer, with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur also expressing interest in the former Manchester City star.

Sane has established himself as one of the best forwards globally, showcasing impressive goalscoring prowess for Bayern. The 28-year-old has contributed nine goals and 11 assists in 26 games for Bayern across all competitions this season.

While Sane’s contract with the Bundesliga champions runs until 2025, reports suggest that Bayern are not eager to part ways with the German and plan to hold contract talks with him before the end of the campaign.

Bayern director Steffen Freund said via ESPN: “We will certainly hold talks in the next few weeks to extend Leroy Sane’s contract. He’s an exceptionally good player, a key player — and it would be nice if he stayed in Munich for a long time. He’s excellent”.

Sane has 47 goals and 48 assists in 159 games across all competitions for Bayern.
