Liverpool are undergoing a rebuild this summer after a lot of players who have been key figures during the Jurgen Klopp era left.
Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner and Roberto Firmino left at the end of their contracts whilst captain Jordan Henderson left to join Al-Ettifaq.
Fabinho is also on the verge of leaving to join Al-Ittihad who like Henderson’s new side are in Saudi Arabia.
As well as these exits a new system used by Klopp has led to new signings being needed and according to a report Andreas Christensen may be the newest recruit.
The Danish international has been at Barcelona for only one season but according to Spanish outlet Nacional Klopp has personally requested the signing.
In his first season in La Liga Christensen was vital for Xavi’s side as they won the title and at 27-years-old he in the prime of his career.
Liverpool’s first bid of 30 million euros was allegedly rejected straightaway by Barcelona but Liverpool are ready to go in with another offer of 50 million euros.
LFCTR Verdict
Christensen was a success at Chelsea in a three at the back system which is what Liverpool are going for this season or at least a variation of it.
Due to his the player profile does make sense however after one season at Barcelona a deal seems unlikely.
A centre back is desired though so it could be one to watch out for after the pursuit of Romeo Lavia.
