Liverpool have made an enquiry about Levi Colwill of Chelsea according to a report but the stance remains the same from the London club and that is that he is not for sale.
Colwill is coming of the back of a good season on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion as he contributed to the club achieving European football for the first time in their history and he impressed that much that the Seagulls attempted to sign him permanently.
Their bids were rejected by Chelsea as they do not want to sell their young defender who is currently away on international duty at the Under 21 European Championships and he has also impressed there as England have reached the final.
As well as keeping him at the club Chelsea want to tie Colwill down to a long term contract however the 20-year-old wants assurances over his playing time due to the large squad of young talent at the club.
New manager Mauricio Pochettino is keen to keep hold of him but Jurgen Klopp is keen to get him as Liverpool look to bolster the left side of their defence as they look for a natural left footer to play as the left centre back in their new system.
Andy Robertson filled in at the back end of last campaign and done a decent enough job but it is not his position by trade so Liverpool want a natural defender to play in that role.
Chelsea aren’t set to give any encouragement to any sides about signing Colwill but a lot will depend on how the player feels when he returns for pre-season but even then it will take a mammoth bid for Chelsea to consider selling him.
