Liverpool have reportedly got in touch with Piero Hincapie’s representatives about a possible move for the Bayer Leverkusen defender.

The club are interested in bringing a left-sided defender this summer as Jurgen Klopp looks to implement a system which sees Liverpool use three defender with Trent Alexander-Arnold moving into midfield.

However right now it appears that the midfield is the priority, even though Liverpool signed Wataru Endo.

That will be why the talks for Hincapie are at the moment conversational and preliminary but Liverpool want to know what condition would get the deal done.

A big stumbling block for any potential deal will be that Hincapie has the same agent as Moises Caicedo who caused Liverpool a lot of issues in their pursuit for the midfielder.

Hincapie had an good season last campaign as he played 43 games in all competitions for Bayer Leverkusen.

He played in the Champions League and then got to the semi-finals of the Europa League whilst also being the starting centre-back in the 2022 World Cup for Ecuador.

At the moment he is injured but he is expected to be back sooner rather than later.

Hincapie is only 21-years-old so if he is signed he could have a long future at the club but Liverpool will have to move quickly with other clubs interested and due to the fact the transfer window shuts in under two weeks.
