Jurgen Klopp may be forced in to a transfer rethink after it emerged that he could lose two of his most experienced midfielders to Saudi after a crazy week at Anfield.
Skipper Jordan Henderson is reported to have agreed personal terms with Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq although the two clubs are yet to find an agreement.
Fabinho is also the subject of a £40million offer from Al-Ittihad and did not travel to Germany with the rest of the Liverpool squad for their pre-season tour.
Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai were added to the Anfield ranks to help fill the void by the departing James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
There was speculation that one more player could be added as part of Klopp’s midfield rebuild with Southampton’s Romeo Lavia rumoured to be highly rated by Reds chiefs.
The moves for Henderson and Fabinho appeared to come as a surprise to the Anfield hierarchy however and could now force a re-think of their transfer strategy this summer.
According to The Athletic Liverpool are considering a move for Aston Villa midfielder Boubacar Kamara.
The 23-year-old enjoyed an impressive first season for Unai Emery’s team in the Premier League and as a result earned himself a call up to Didier Deschamps’ France squad. He is unlikely to come cheap however with a contract until the summer of 2027 at Villa Park.
Several other midfielders are also reported by the outlet to be of interest including Lavia, Cheick Doucoure (Crystal Palace), Kalvin Phillips (Manchester City), Ryan Gravenberch (Bayern Munich), and Sofyan Amrabat (Fiorentina).
