Liverpool are still looking to sign another central defender this summer, and could dip into the French market to do so. Rennes centre-back Arthur Theate is someone the club admire.
A left-footed centre-back is something Jurgen Klopp has been calling for all summer. Theate fits that profile and would be available for a decent fee if Liverpool were to make an attempt to sign him.
He is one of a few players on the list of potential defenders the club could go for.
As reported by L’Equipe, Liverpool are showing an interest in signing Rennes centre-back Arthur Theate in the final weeks of the transfer window.
Theate also has interest from another Premier League club in the shape of Fulham. Theate is a highly rated defender and at just 23-years old has a lot of time to grow into an even better player.
Liverpool could sign the Belgian defender for a fee of around €25million this summer. He can play centre-back and has played at left-back on occasion, which is something that definitely interest Jurgen Klopp.
A midfielder is the priority for Liverpool at this moment in time, but a defender is not something they’re willing to give up on either.
Keep an eye on Liverpool and Arthur Theate.
