Liverpool have named their asking price for Jordan Henderson amid interest from Saudi Arabia according to a report.
The Reds skipper is reported to have agreed to a deal with Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettihad worth £700k per week but despite the rumours, no fee has been agreed between the two clubs.
Early reports on Thursday had suggested that the Saudi club were hopeful of securing a deal for Henderson on a free transfer. That suggestion has been dismissed by Anfield chiefs however who do not want to give away their captain for nothing.
How Much do Liverpool want for Jordan Henderson?
According to The Telegraph, Liverpool are demanding upwards of £20million for the 33-year-old who still has two years left on his current deal.
It was expected that there would be certainty over the England international’s future imminently but he now appears set the join Jurgen Klopp’s squad when they depart for their pre-season tour to Germany on Saturday.
The Transfer Room’s Verdict on the current situation with Jordan Henderson
This is a situation that needs to be sorted out sooner rather than later. The loss of Henderson was probably not something that was considered a few days ago and the same goes for Fabinho, who is the subject of interest from Al-Ittihad.
Klopp and Liverpool are about to step up their pre-season preparations and uncertainty amongst the squad is not something that will be helpful as they prepare for a crucial campaign.
A quick decision on the futures of both players, therefore, is required so that Reds chiefs can formulate their plans for the remainder of the transfer window.
