Liverpool have dismissed a verbal offer from the Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad to sign forward Mohamed Salah late in the summer transfer window, according to The Athletic.
The online news portal claims that the bid was in excess of £100m plus substantial add-ons, however, it was immediately turned down and was given no consideration.
It was an approach made on behalf of Al Ittihad during an amicable call to Liverpool director Mike Gordon on Thursday night but the club’s stance of not selling the Egypt international still remains.
The case is now closed by the Premier League club but the Al Ittihad are expected to maintain a strong interest in Salah, who has two years left on his current contract with the club.
Liverpool have already sold midfielders Fabinho and Jordan Henderson to Al-Ittihad and El-Ettifaq respectively this summer, while Roberto Firmino joined Al-Ahli after the expiration of his contract at Anfield.
Salah has netted 187 goals in 305 games since joining from AS Roma in 2017 and is currently fifth on Liverpool’s all-time scoring charts, surpassing club legend Steven Gerrard after scoring against Bournemouth last weekend.
He has won several trophies during his time at Anfield including the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, Fifa Club World Cup, and Uefa Super Cup.
The Egypt international has also won or shared three Premier League Golden Boots and been named the PFA Player of the Year twice.
