Liverpool have rejected an offer from RB Leipzig for the permanent transfer of Fabio Carvalho according to a report.
The 20-year-old is widely expected to depart Liverpool this summer after a disappointing first season at the Merseyside club.
He only signed for the Reds last summer after an excellent season at Fulham where he helped the West London club gain promotion to the Premier League from the Championship.
His career at Anfield got off to a promising start with a goal in the 9-0 victory over Bournemouth and then by scoring the dramatic injury-time winner against Newcastle United just four days later.
Despite the fast start to life at his new club, however, he failed to nail down a regular space in Jurgen Klopp’s squad thereafter, spending several months on the sidelines.
According to Philipp Hinze, the Reds have rejected an offer from RB Leipzig of just €12million for a player who has represented both England and Portugal at youth levels.
Yes, €12m offer from #RBLeipzig for Fabio Carvalho has been rejected by Liverpool. @LFC see great potential in the 20-year-old Portuguese. They would like to loan him out or sell him with a buy-back option. Exciting as a challenger for Leipzigs squad. Interest is still there. pic.twitter.com/gl0Wwixrrv

The reporter for Sky Sport Germany claims that whilst Leipzig remain interested, Liverpool believe Carvalho has great potential and are therefore keen to loan him or insert a buy-back clause in any deal that sees him depart Anfield on a permanent deal.
The Transfer Room Verdict
Carvalho is a player with huge potential and with a contract at Anfield until 2027 must be worth a fair bit more than the offer quoted, a fact backed up by transfermarkt.co.uk which suggests his market value is €20million.
As a result, Leipzig are going to need to up their offer if they want the exciting youngster to be playing for them in the Bundesliga next season.
