Liverpool are willing to part ways with Thiago Alcantara this summer if they receive a suitable offer from interested clubs, according to Football Insider.
Alcantara is a subject of interest from several clubs including his former club Barcelona and clubs from Saudi Arabia who are keen on bolstering their squad for the new season.
The online news portal claims that the Spain midfielder’s age and injury records mean the Reds would not hesitate to accept a good offer for him especially a bid from a Saudi club due to their finances.
The 32-year-old has been hampered by injuries since moving to Anfield from Bayern Munich in 2020. He has racked up 97 appearances in all competitions and made nine goal contributions.
Alcantara has helped Jurgen Klopp’s side clinch the Carabao Cup, Emirates FA Cup, and Community Shield. Last season, he featured in 28 games and recorded one assist across all competitions as the Reds finished 5th in the Premier League table.
The former Bayern Munich midfielder has one year left on his remaining contract and as it stands there have been no contract extension talks between the club and player.
Klopp is keen on revamping his midfield following the exit of Naby Keita, James Milner, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai have been added to the squad, however, the Merseysiders are expected to add at least two more midfielders.
Skipper Jordan Henderson and Fabinho are leaning towards moves to Saudi Arabia and their transfers are set to be confirmed by close of the week.
Several midfielders have been linked with a move to Liverpool including Southamton’s Romeo Lavia and Crystal Palace ace Cheick Doucoure.
