Manchester United are now close to reaching an agreement with Jonny Evans on a one-year deal. United feel Evans experience and quality is worth keeping around and have been keen to tie him down to a new deal this season. He will be the 6th choice centre-back at the club, but could easily work his way up that list.
The decision to give Evans a new deal is unlikely to have any baring around Harry Maguire’s future. West Ham will not come back in for Maguire, and he is now set to stay.
Jonny Evans is now the only Premier League winner in the entire Manchester United squad.
Evans Set For One-Year Deal:
As reported by James Ducker, Manchester United are now close to agreeing a one-year deal for a contract with Jonny Evans.
Evans left Leicester at the end of last season and has been training with United since before pre-season. Erik ten Hag is keen to keep the defender around the club.
United worked with Evans through the ranks at the academy. He has won three Premier Leagues at the club, and was part of the last squad under Sir Alex Ferguson to win the league.
Evans will play a part for United in the upcoming season. It’s not likely that his signing means anyone is leaving the club.
Jonny Evans, set to stay at Manchester United.
