Manchester United are reportedly said to be preparing an opening bid for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia. The Belgian international has been a major target for Liverpool this summer.
Lavia, formerly of Manchester City is set to leave the Saints this summer following their relegation to the Championship. At only 19 the midfielder is proving his value and was a starter for his side in the top flight last season.
The Saints want £50million for the talent which has already proved to be a stumbling block for Liverpool. United and Chelsea have always been named as other suitors for the midfielder should Liverpool fail their pursuit.
Manchester United ‘Preparing Opening Bid For Romeo Lavia’
United’s rivals City have a £40million buy back clause on Lavia. However, that clause only becomes active from next summer – the window for United and Liverpool remains open this summer.
Either side will have to make their move for the talent before City have a say. A new report from Ekrem Konur states that United are ‘preparing to make an opening bid for Southampton’s 19-year-old Belgian midfielder Romeo Lavia.’
United are in the market for a midfielder. Erik Ten Hag is adding more to that department with the likes of Sofyan Amrabat and Leon Goretzka already being linked.
