Manchester United have placed a price tag of around £50million on Harry Maguire, amid news West Ham United are willing to make a move for him. United are open to the sale of Maguire, but want to recoup some of what they paid.
The player himself is keen to earn a second chance under Erik ten Hag. Last season saw Maguire fall out of the team but he is working hard to try and get back into it. West Ham have concrete interest however, with David Moyes a huge fan of Maguire.
At this stage it’s unlikely West Ham will pay anywhere close to £50million for the United defender.
United Want £50million For Maguire:
As reported by Samuel Luckhurst, Manchester United are looking for around £50million to sell Harry Maguire this summer. United want to get back some of the £80million they spent in 2019.
West Ham are keen to strengthen after the £105million sale of Declan Rice, and Maguire is one of the targets on the list. The Hammer’s would prefer to spend around £30million on Maguire, or even take him on loan for the season.
Scott McTominay is also a target for West Ham, so there could be potential to take the two players on a cut price package. The Red’s value McTominay at about £25million.
Maguire is not keen to leave United and trained 3 times a day in pre-season to prepare for the season ahead. The England defender however will have to be wary of his game time, as failure to play could result in him losing his England place.
West Ham are yet to make an approach for Maguire but United are braced for at least one in the coming weeks. £35million could be a fair meet in the middle price, but it could come down to whether Maguire is open to leaving in any capacity.
