Manchester United winger Antony is being investigated by a court in Sao Paulo and the Greater Manchester Police from domestic abuse. The winger is accused of numerous counts of domestic abuse by his ex-girlfriend. He has been dropped from Brazil with immediate affect.
The player is currently in Sao Paulo but he will not travel with his team for their next two international games. The decision will take place with immediate effect.
Manchester United are yet to comment on the situation.
As reported by Andre Hernan, Antony has been dropped by Brazil for their next two international games. The news has not been made official, but it has been communicated to Antony in private.
It comes during a media frenzy for United, off the back of the Mason Greenwood situation. The Brazil national team dropped Antony to ‘preserve the alleged victim, the player, the team and the CBF’.
Manchester United are yet to suspend Antony, and it’s unknown at this time if they will. Antony played 85 minutes for United in their 3-1 defeat to Arsenal yesterday.
The investigation that broke today is new. The player is being investigated by both the Sao Paulo court and the Greater Manchester police.
More to come on this story as it breaks.
