Despite some reports suggesting Rasmus Hojlund could get his debut this Saturday against Nottingham Forest, a new story has suggested Manchester United fans may have to wait even longer.

The Red Devils have faced difficulties this season, especially in front of goal. Versus Wolves, they deserved to lose but a stat from after the team’s loss to Spurs said that United are actually creating more than the vast majority of teams in the Premier League this season.

And it was that loss versus Spurs when many fans were reminded just how much United need a proper, goalscoring striker who will put his chances in the net, rather than over the bar or each side of the post.

Rasmus Hojlund could be that man after he was signed from Atalanta, but an injury sustained in pre-season for the Italian club has kept him out of the squad so far.

Some thought we might see him make his debut against Forest. Still, a report published by the Manchester Evening News on Thursday morning suggested he may not make his debut until after the next international break in September.

All of United’s forwards have been criticised this season and it has seemingly become more clear that Marcus Rashford is not used best as a striker but on the wing. From a United point of view, hopefully with Hojlund’s return to fitness, we will see both that and a better scoring rate from the attacking players.
