Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia doesn’t just remain as a target for Liverpool but he is ‘top of the list’ for the club according to reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Liverpool have been looking at multiple midfield targets since the end of last season due to several departures and they moved quick to sign Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.
They were linked to some defensive midfield targets too whilst still having Fabinho at the club however the Brazilian is close to moving to Saudi Arabia so those rumours have increased.
Romeo Lavia was a target but now he is supposedly Liverpool’s main target for the role due to the imminent departure of Fabinho and also potentially captain Jordan Henderson.
Lavia is only 19-years-old though so it may be a risk to only sign him to replace Fabinho considering Liverpool originally wanted both players at the club at the same time.
Southampton are not budging on their price tag for Lavia which is £50 million but the Reds are attempting to get that fee to be lower in negotiations.
If Thomas Partey leaves Arsenal their interest will step up in Lavia and Chelsea are also keeping an eye on the situation so Liverpool may have to move quickly if they want the young Belgium midfielder at the club.
Lavia played 35 games for Southampton in all competitions last season scoring one goal whilst getting one assist.
