Romeo Lavia is said to remain keen on joining Chelsea this summer despite Liverpool agreeing a £60million deal to sign the Belgian midfielder.
Liverpool launched their bid overnight and have gotten the green light from Southampton but are yet to have an agreement on player side.
Chelsea were favorites to sign Lavia last night but would need to better or match Liverpool’s bid to sign the player in the coming days.
As reported by Secret Scout, Romeo Lavia remains keen on Chelsea move despite Liverpool agreeing a fee with Southampton.
That is not to say Lavia would not join Liverpool, but his preference at the moment remains Chelsea. It is up to Chelsea now to do the same thing they done in the Moises Caicedo deal.
Chelsea may not be as keen to hijack this deal as they were with Caicedo. There is huge interest in Lavia, but after spending £115million it may not be a deal they will go too high on.
The advantage Chelsea may have is the fact Joe Shields works for the club. Shields helped sign Lavia at Southampton and worked with him at Manchester City.
Liverpool in pole position with the bid agreement, it’s up to Chelsea to change that.
