Thiago Alcantara could be leaving Liverpool a year before his contract runs out according to a report.

The Spanish international was expected to see out the final year of his contract at Liverpool but his time on Merseyside May now be cut short.

His first club Barcelona are keen on bring him back to the club and see him as an affordable option this window.

Liverpool were going to have a midfield rebuild this summer regardless but with Jordan Henderson now on the verge of leaving, Fabinho possibility departing and now Thiago linked with a move away more signings will be a necessity.

According to the report things will move quickly for this transfer to be completed as Thiago is more than keen to go back to Barcelona and play under Xavi who was his mentor when he first came through the academy.

He has been at Liverpool for three seasons but his time at the club has been hampered by injuries however he is seen as one of the most talented midfielders in Europe so it will be a blow to lose him.

Like Fabinho and Henderson though his age is against him and the club could do with losing another player on big wages who won’t feature as much as others.

As well as that Liverpool could demand a fee for his service rather than losing him on a free next summer which is what happened with Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner and Roberto Firmino.
