Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia still favours a move to Liverpool over Chelsea according to a report.
The Reds have seen two bids turned down by the Saints hierarchy for the talented 19-year-old as they search for midfield reinforcements this summer.
They then entered the race for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo and had a record offer of £111million accepted by the Seagulls for the Ecuadorian.
Confusion reigns however regarding that deal with Caicedo reported to favour a move to the Blues.
As negotiations continued over that deal, reports emerged suggesting that Todd Boehly and Chelsea were close to an agreement with Southampton for 19-year-old Lavia.
Romeo Lavia Still Favours Liverpool
According to the reliable Sacha Tavolieri however, the Belgian still favours a move to Anfield despite Chelsea’s interest. The journalist also suggests that Lavia is yet to have direct contact with chiefs at Stamford Bridge.
Tavolieri had confirmed on Friday that the deal agreed between Chelsea and Southampton for Lavia was for £52million plus £3million in addons.
It remains to be seen whether Liverpool will return to the negotiating table should they miss out on Caicedo as the price agreed by the Blues was quite a bit higher than their reported valuation of the player.
The situation remains fluid and messy between the two Premier League giants with no resolution in sight.
