Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has made a surprising inclusion in his squad for the FA Cup clash against Manchester United as he has named Ryan Gravenberch in the squad list.
Gravenberch has not played since sustaining an injury in the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea three weeks ago.
The Reds head into Sunday’s quarter-final tie with momentum following a commanding 6-1 victory over Sparta Prague in the Europa League on Thursday, securing an impressive 11-2 aggregate triumph.
Klopp, speaking ahead of the fixture confirmed that Gravenberch has fully recovered from any prior fitness concerns and is now eligible for selection against the Red Devils.
“Ryan trained today again, so he’s ready. And the others, some of the others, [will return] after the international break,” he said.
Gravenberch has racked up 32 appearances, scored three goals, and provided two assists for Liverpool across all competitions.
Bobby Clark was forced off the pitch in discomfort during Thursday’s emphatic 6-1 victory over Sparta Prague. However, concerns regarding a potential spell on the sidelines have been alleviated.
“Bobby felt much better,” said Klopp.
“That was uncomfortable, he got a knock there, a little swelling and that’s why [we had] the feeling that it might be something more serious but it’s not, so he’s fine.
But defender Ibrahima Konate looks set to miss the trip to Old Trafford. “Ibou didn’t train today,” said Klopp on Friday.
“We have to see if he can train tomorrow but it will be a tight, tight race which we will probably lose, but we don’t know.”
Liverpool will continue without Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson Becker, Stefan Bajcetic, Ben Doak, Curtis Jones, Diogo Jota, Joel Matip, and Thiago Alcantara.
While, Clark, Harvey Elliott, and Gravenberch are walking a tightrope as they are just a single yellow card away from incurring a one-match suspension in the FA Cup.
