A stat has been revealed which shows Manchester United may actually be at their creative best in the Premier League, despite recent criticism.
The Red Devils have struggled in their first two league games this season. First, they struggled to beat Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford, facing difficulties defensively especially.
Then they lost 2-0 to Tottenham Hotspur, where they were their own worst enemies due to so many missed chances.
A statistic pointed out by Statman Dave on Twitter says that United have actually created more chances (32) than all the other teams but one – Brighton And Hove Albion (38).
Bruno Fernandes has been on both sides of it, creating big chances while missing one himself versus Spurs. He said after the game to Stadium Astro:
“I had a big chance. I have to score somehow. I looked too much at the goalkeeper instead of concentrating on the ball. I didn’t kick the ball like I should have. I have to at least make sure I hit the frame.”
“We didn’t miss so many chances against Wolves because we didn’t create so many. Today (versus Spurs) we did better in that regard, but we didn’t take them. Sometimes it’s not a question of how many chances you get but how many you score.”
United could have new striker signing Rasmus Hojlund in the squad versus Nottingham Forest on Saturday, who could solve some of the problems.
