A number of clubs including Fenerbahce are ‘keen on signing’ Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara according to a report.
The rebuild of Jurgen Klopp’s squad at Anfield is well underway after Dominik Szoboszlai was signed from RB Leipzig. The 22-year-old was the second signing of the summer, joining Argentine World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister.
Further incomings are expected and strong links persist to Kephren Thuram of Nice and Southampton’s Romeo Lavia. As to whether both players will be targeted could depend on any potential outgoings at Anfield.
Thiago Alcantara To Depart?
One player that has been linked with a move away is Spanish midfielder Thiago who has just one year left on his contract. Neil Jones is reporting that ‘Fenerbahce are among the clubs keen on signing the midfielder’ this summer.
The football journalist claims that whilst there are potential suitors, Liverpool have not yet received any offers for the midfield technician.
The Transfer Room’s Verdict On Thiago Alcantara’s Future
As Liverpool’s midfield finally gets a badly needed-makeover, it would be a shame to see Thiago depart. Whilst he has missed a lot of football due to injuries, more squad depth should ease the burden on him and improve his availability.
As a player, he still has much to offer and he can also have a positive influence over the younger players in the squad during his final year.
At the start of the summer, the Anfield hierarchy were not rumoured to be looking to sell Thiago. A sizeable offer for his services however could at least be given consideration as he enters his final year at the club.
