Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai produced a stellar performance on his Anfield debut against Bournemouth in the Premier League.

The 22-year-old, who joined the Reds earlier in the summer helped Jurgen Klopp’s side come from behind to seal a 3-1 win over the Cherries on Saturday.

Luis Diaz levelled the score for the Reds after the visitors took an early lead through Ghana striker Antoine Semenyo.

Szoboszlai went to ground after a challenge at the corner of the box by Joe Rothwell and Mohamed Salah converted the rebound after his penalty was parried by Bournemouth goalkeeper Neto before Jota handed the hosts a two-goal cushion.

“Yeah, I think everybody showed the character of themselves and also the team. We had a really good reaction after conceding the goal and also after the red card because directly after we scored. I think it was really important. We are getting to know each other closer and closer and with time it will be even better and better,” the Hungary skipper said.

“Yeah, this was most important that we don’t panic at 1-0 [down] – we still have 90 minutes to change the game. It’s a really good reaction and we took the three points.

He added: “This is my job. I do everything for the team, I do everything for them and I do everything for myself. If somebody is in a better position, I play them the ball. If not, I can also shoot – I have to shoot even more. I’m just enjoying playing.”

On his first goal for the club, Szoboszlai said: “It’s going to come. With time, it’s going to come, for sure. But for me the most important [thing] is that the team wins. It doesn’t matter who scores the goals.

Alexis Mac Allister was dismissed for a foul on Ryan Christie just before the hour after which Wataru Endo climbed off the bench to make his debut for the club.

“Everybody had in their head, ‘We have to fight now for Macca and also for everybody.’ Because if one of us is not running, then we are not nine, we are eight. We had to do it for each other, for the fans, for us, for myself, everybody for themselves to have the three points,” the box-to-box midfielder said.

“It was really nice. I was waiting since I signed. Finally the time came. Hopefully I can run a thousand times more out there and play for them.

“I think it’s really important. Against Chelsea we had a good start and we were a little bit down but we take the one point from Stamford Bridge. To get the three points at home, it’s really important.”
