Jadon Sancho is more likely to leave Manchester United than not in January, and the club are planning on replacing him. There have already been discussions behind the scenes about the possibility, and Sancho is open to leaving the club.
Borussia Dortmund are lurking, and a loan back to his former club has not been ruled out. There is also expected to be no shortage of clubs in England trying to Sancho’s signature.
United however will need to bring someone in before letting Sancho go, but who? Let’s take a look at three players they could sign to replace him.
Johan Bakayoko:
A signing Erik ten Hag may get criticism for due to him being from the Dutch League, but Johan Bakayoko is the real deal. The Belgian right winger has 6 assists in 12 games for PSV this season, and has been lighting up the right flank for the Dutch side.
Bakayoko is a direct, powerful left footed right winger. He is strong in 1v1 duels, and has blistering pace to get by opponents down his wing. Once by the defender, Bakayoko also has a great crossing range. His composure in the final third is a huge asset.
It would be a signing that can offer United something different down the right flank, and along with Antony would give them massive strength in depth.
Jarrod Bowen:
Not the fancy name many would expect, but Jarrod Bowen would fit the bill at Manchester United more than most. The West Ham winger has an eye for goal and sublime work ethic that would compliment Erik ten Hag’s style of play.
Bowen can press and track back, and is Premier League proven with some good numbers at West Ham in recent years. Bowen has shown over the years he can be a big game player, and has scored against the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City. He even scored in the Conference League final.
West Ham would look for around £50million for the right winger.
Bryan Mbeumo:
Many have billed Bryan Mbeumo to be signed to Liverpool once Mohamed Salah leaves, but Manchester United could nip in and take him from under their rivals noses. Mbeumo has all the attributes to succeed at a club like United.
The Cameroonian international has pace and is extremely intelligent in possession. Mbeumo is excellent at linking up with a number nine, which could help new signing Rasmus Hojlund. He’s also a goal scoring winger, which could add a new dimension to United.
Mbeumo could end up being a cheap coup for United, and a signing that could really push them forward onto the next level.
