Reports linking PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko with a move to Liverpool have been rubbished by a former Dutch international after the 20-year-old had been suggested as a possible replacement for Reds talisman Mohamed Salah over recent days.
Despite Saudi interest in the Egyptian, he looks set to stay at Anfield for at least one more season but that has not stopped rumours about who might replace him.
Johan Bakayoko To Replace Mohamed Salah At Liverpool?
Highly rated Belgium international Bakayoko has been one of the primary names mentioned as a candidate to replace Salah but Wim Kieft (as per Voetbal Primeur via Sport Witness) doesn’t think that move is likely.
“I was also so surprised by the news that Liverpool were interested in Bakayoko. That’s madness, isn’t it? I really think that’s total madness. I don’t believe all those reports. His agents are just putting such reports into the world.”
Former Dutch player Kieft had also questionned over recent days as to whether the player would be ready for a move to a club like Liverpool.
Despite these claims however, Bakayoko impressed in PSV’s 2-2 draw with Rangers in the Champions League qualifiers on Tuesday with the second leg due to take place next Wednesday.
