Liverpool will be competing in the Europa League this season for the first time since 2016 when Jurgen Klopp first joined the club.
It comes off the back of a mediocre 2022/23 campaign which saw Liverpool finish in 5th place in the Premier League.
As well as they were knocked out of both domestic competitions in the early stages whilst losing to Real Madrid in the round of 16 in the Champions League.
However new vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold has stated why the second class European competition can be a good thing for Liverpool.
Speaking to The Independent Alexander-Arnold said: “It gives a chance to focus on the Premier League a lot more.
“We respect the competitions we play and want to win them all but definitely going into the season, our aim is to win the Premier League.
“[The Europa League] gives us a good chance to focus on it.
“It’s not about coming second or third and building on that, we’re a team full of winners. We know what it takes, we have the culture and the manager to win.
“It’s positive pressure to go and do it again because we’ve got the team to win it.”
Liverpool will be the heavy favourites to win the Europa League as Klopp looks to win the only competition he is yet to win for the club.
