West Ham United had seen a few missed chances in the first half, but with the game poised at 0-0, Fiorentina switched off briefly, proving costly.
A quick long throw over the top from Vladimir Coufal for Jarrod Bowen to attempt to knock into his path took a touch off the Fiorentina captain, Cristiano Biraghi’s right hand.
The referee took his time and reviewed the decision to give the Hammers a chance to take the lead from the spot.
With all the pressure of taking a penalty in a European final, Benrahma placed the ball on the penalty spot and powered the ball past Pietro Terracciano in the Fiorentina goal.
